Pablo Largaespada

Introducing Pablo Largaespada, a visionary and entrepreneur deeply connected to the Osa peninsular. From crafting Dreamcatchers to leading Osa Dreamcatcher Tours, his dedication to preserving the region’s ecological and cultural treasures shines through every experience he offers.

More about Pablo

I am Pablo Largaespada. I was born in Playa Blanca and have been fortunate to grow up and live my life there, always amazed by the natural beauty and variety that surrounded me, but aware of its fragility and never taking it for granted. My entrepreneurial drive stems from my deep roots in the heart of the Osa peninsular and my wish to help preserve its untouched condition by using its magic to inspire others.

From a young age, I demonstrated my artisanal talents by creating Dreamcatchers imagined from my sister’s teachings. The term “Dreamcatcher” originates from Native American culture, specifically the Ojibwa people, who crafted these intricate objects with a profound purpose. According to legend, Dreamcatchers were designed to hang above one’s bed, acting as a filter for dreams. The circular frame was believed to trap negative dreams, allowing only positive ones to pass through and gently slide down the feathers to the dreamer below.

At first, these were just for our enjoyment and amusement. Then, over time, the Dreamcatchers evolved from that personal expression to become a source of income, and during my high school years I successfully sold these creations to support my studies as a naturalist tourist guide.

My passion for craftsmanship and profound connection to my homeland sparked the creation of ‘Osa Dreamcatcher Tours’, named to reflect these deep ties and interests. ‘Osa’ signifies my strong bond with the Peninsular, while ‘Dreamcatcher’ recognises the craft I honed during my school days. With a clear vision and unwavering dedication, I became the driving force behind this tourism venture, aiming to celebrate and share my experiences of the ecological and cultural wealth of my homeland.

The awe-inspiring landscapes and vibrant biodiversity of the Osa Peninsular serve as an amazing backdrop to my mission. My formal education combined with considerable hands-on experience, including guiding tourists at renowned sites like Finca Kobo and Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge, have provided me with a unique perspective. Also, under the mentorship of Margarita Silva Banavidez, my understanding and passion, particularly for mangrove ecosystems, have developed even further.

Join me on a journey through Osa Dreamcatcher Tours as we explore the ecological marvels and cultural treasures of this breathtaking region.
